PM Modi Urges Amarnath Pilgrims to Promote Cleanliness, Safety and Local Economy During Yatra

Ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed devotees through a special message, describing the pilgrimage as a sacred journey that reflects India's rich spiritual heritage and cultural unity. He encouraged pilgrims to combine their religious devotion with a sense of social responsibility throughout the yatra.
In his message, the Prime Minister called on devotees to adopt five important pledges during their pilgrimage. These include maintaining cleanliness along the yatra route, following all safety instructions issued by authorities, supporting local artisans and businesses by purchasing regional products, participating in environmental conservation efforts, and carrying the spirit of "Nation First" into their daily lives.

PM Modi said the Amarnath Yatra brings together people from different parts of the country, showcasing India's diversity through a shared devotion to Lord Shiva. He also praised the efforts of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the armed forces, security agencies, healthcare workers, sanitation staff, volunteers, and local residents for ensuring the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
The Prime Minister highlighted the contribution of pony operators, porters, and palanquin bearers, saying their dedication reflects India's tradition of selfless service. He also urged pilgrims to contribute to the local economy by spending a portion of their travel budget on locally made products, supporting livelihoods in Jammu and Kashmir.
Emphasising environmental responsibility, PM Modi encouraged devotees to participate in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign by planting or gifting a sapling. He concluded by wishing all pilgrims a safe and spiritually enriching journey, expressing hope that the yatra would inspire greater commitment to public service and the vision of a developed India.
